JOURNEY

THE CYCLE WE CALL LIFE
Feb. 27, 2009
12:55am

Here I am again
Waking up from a lonely dream
A dream that I know
Would never come true

Life is really like a long road
Full of blind curves and crossroads
We don’t know what lies ahead
We don’t know where it ends

I am traveling on a rough road
Meet a lot of holes and obstacles
Yes I may have passed some smooth streets
But from a checkpoint, I met a great challenge

A challenge to keep on going
Though someone is missing
Coz the one who hitched me
Unexpectedly fell somewhere

My life’s road seems long
I don’t know if I would still be among
The best drivers of our life’s cycle
Coz I am now alone
I have lost my partner, my daughter, my guide.

WATCH OUT! BEWARE! BE CAUTIOUS!

THE BENEFITS AND PITFALLS OF SKIPPING MEALS
(NEW YORK TIMES )

How effective is skipping meals when it comes to your health? We all skip meals sometimes for one reason or another, particularly when we are busy. Some people skip too many meals in order to lose weight. A study published in the medical journal Metabolism takes a first-hand look at how our eating habits affect our health and weight.

Diabetes researchers at the National Institute on Aging took healthy men and women with normal weight. For two months, these people ate three meals a day. Afterward, the subjects skipped two meals a day for eight weeks, but consumed just as many calories as their 3-meal-a-day routine, only in one large meal. The researchers found some dangerous metabolic changes. Glucose levels while fasting were raised and insulin response was delayed, which could one day ensure the onset of diabetes.

This study followed another study found conducted earlier this year that made their subjects skip meals every other day. Turns out, skipping meals every other day improved the overall health of overweight adults with asthma. The subjects in this study ate three meals a day one day, followed by a day of restricted eating. They ate only one meal a day about the size of a normal meal, about 500 calories. After two months, the subjects lost eight percent of their weight, asthma conditions improved, and cholesterol levels were improved.

From what the studies demonstrated, skipping meals by controlling the amount of calories you eat could improve your overall health, however, skipping meals then binge eating can be harmful to your body. Just make sure that when you decide to fast, be sure to eat healthy food for your one meal, rather than junk food. Try eating a large salad with low-fat dressing with a side of fruit and whole-wheat bread. To be sure you get all the vitamins and minerals you need, eat a multi-vitamin with your meal. Remember, on days you decide to skip meals, do not skip your exercises. It will speed up your metabolism and keep you in shape.

NO REPLACEMENT
Feb. 24, 2009
4:30am

Lord, when will I stop regretting?
When will I ever stop blaming myself?
Does this mean I have not yet fully recovered?
Or Styx hasn’t peacefully rested?

I hope not. I hope she rested in peace
I don’t wanna be bothered like this
It seems I’m the one to be blamed
Why this tragic thing happened

Yes, I made a mistake, a very big mistake
But I‘m so sorry Lord
Please forgive me, I beg
If I could just turn back time…

If and only if…
I would never leave Styx
She should have been my priority
Before responding to the call of duty

Baby, please sleep in peace
Please be happy even you’re away from me
Coz you are now with God
Our creator, our beloved

Please forgive Mama, baby
I’ll forever suffer the consequence
Promise nobody will take your place

You’ll remain as my one and only Styx!

AT 2:00 AM

AT 2:00 AM

Styx, why did you leave Mama?
I thought we are partners
How will I continue living my life?
Without you by my side.
If I had just known you’ll go away
I should have spent all my time with you
Now, how will I recover?
I don’t know how to start all over.

I’m sorry baby I wasn’t the best mother to you
I’m very sorry I didn’t know how to take care of you

Now that you’re gone I am always regretting
Forever, it’s you whom I’ll be longing.
I know you don’t want me to worry
I’m sure you want me to be happy
But how will I enjoy baby?
Without you in my life, help me.

I really can’t stop thinking about you
Mama loves you so much baby I really do
You should have stayed alive for Mama
As my partner…..to inspire.
Baby, please help me to recover
And accept everything
Or else Mama will get sick
God! It should not happen
Because I still have Papa and Sky.

Be with us Styx always
Though you’re far away

Do watch over us and guard
You may not be my partner anymore
From heaven, you are our angel of light!

A RAINBOW

When you think your road is rocky and a bit too steep to climb, When you think your guardian angel needs to work some overtime, When your personal jigsaw puzzle has some pieces that won't fit, When life has no rhyme or reason and you can't make sense of it, YOU NEED A RAINBOW

When the clouds are dark and stormy and have blocked the sunshine out, And perhaps you start to wonder what this life is all about, When your trials and tribulations seem to be so hard to bear, And it seems there is no justice anytime or anywhere, LOOK FOR YOUR RAINBOW

When the molehills seem like mountains and the obstacles are great, When you feel so heavy laden and your worries just inflate, When you can't see any ending to the problems that you face, For they just keep on increasing and you need some breathing space, PRAY FOR YOUR RAINBOW

It may be you need to look a little higher than before, Or perhaps a little further to see past the clouds once more. But you'll know it's worth the effort when your rainbow you can see, And you understand the love behind God's creativity, SEARCH FOR YOUR RAINBOW

For your rainbow holds a promise that this turbulence will cease, And your inner conflict will become, instead, deep inner peace. But if, though searching, you can't find your rainbow at this time, Until you can, I say with love, you're welcome to share mine.

THE DAFFODIL PRINCIPLE

The Daffodil Principle Several times my daughter had telephoned to say, "Mother, you must come see the daffodils before they are over।" I wanted to go, but it was a two-hour drive from Laguna to Lake Arrowhead. "I will come next Tuesday, "I promised, a little reluctantly, on her third call. Next Tuesday dawned cold and rainy. Still, I had promised, and so I drove there.
When I finally walked into Carolyn's house and hugged and greeted my grandchildren, I said, "Forget the daffodils, Carolyn! The road is invisible in the clouds and fog, and there is nothing in the world except you and these children that I want to see bad enough to drive another inch!"My daughter smiled, "We drive in this all the time, Mom।" "Well, you won't get me back on the road until it clears and then I'm heading straight for home!" I said, rather emphatically.
"Gee, Mom, I was hoping you'd take me over to the garage to pick up my car," Carolyn said with a forlorn look in her eyes. "How far will we have to drive?" Smiling she answered, "Just a few blocks, I'll drive ... I'm used to this." After several minutes, I had to ask, "Where are we going? This isn't the way to the garage!" "We're going to my garage the long way," Carolyn smiled, "by way of the daffodils." "Carolyn," I said sternly, "please turn around." "It's all right, Mom, I promise, you will never forgive yourself if you miss this experience."
After about twenty minutes we turned onto a small gravel road and I saw a small church। On the far side of the church I saw a hand-lettered sign ... We got out of the car and each took a child's hand, and I followed Carolyn down the path. As we turned a corner of the path, and I looked up and gasped. Before me lay the most glorious sight. It looked as though someone had taken a great vat of gold and poured it down over the mountain peak and slopes.
The flowers were planted in majestic, swirling patterns, great ribbons and swaths of deep orange, lemon yellow, salmon pink, saffron, and butter yellow. Each different-colored variety was planted as a group so that it swirled and flowed like its own river with its own unique hue. Five acres of the most beautiful flowers I had ever seen!"Who planted all these?" I asked Carolyn."It's just one woman," Carolyn answered. "She lives on the property. That's her home." Carolyn pointed to a well-kept A-frame house that looked small and modest in the midst of all that glory. We walked up to the house we saw a sign...

There it was ... "The Daffodil Principle" For me that moment was a life-changing experience। I thought of this woman whom I had never met, who, more than forty years before, had begun - one bulb at a time - to bring her vision of beauty and joy to an obscure mountain top. Still, This unknown, old woman had forever changed the world in which she lived. She had created something of magnificent beauty, and inspiration.
The principle her daffodil garden taught is one of the greatest principles of celebration: Learning to move toward our goals and desires one step at a time, learning to love the doing, learning to use the accumulation of time।When we multiply tiny pieces of time with small increments of daily effort, we too will find we can accomplish magnificent things. We can change the world. "It makes me sad in a way," I admitted to Carolyn.
"What might I have accomplished if I had thought of a wonderful goal thirty-five or forty years ago and had worked away at it 'one bulb at a time' through all those years. Just think what I might have been able to achieve! My daughter summed up the message of the day in her direct way, "Start tomorrow, Mom," she said, "It's so pointless to think of the lost hours of our yesterdays. The way to make learning a lesson a celebration instead of a cause for regret is to only ask... "How can I put this to use today?" Written by Jaroldeen Asplund Edwards
